SYNOPSIS:

Invisible Promise is the story of Richard Vahnil, who is the top numbers cruncher in a major business organization. He soon finds that the tension between his domestic life and the fast-paced business world are putting his family, his job and his values in jeopardy, forcing him to deal with the conflicting issues of his world.

Invisible Promise is a black comedy that tells the story of how Richard Vahnil attempts to resolve those conflicts. At the same time, the book makes use of the major theme, illusion versus reality, which Joseph Conrad employs in his best-known fiction. Written in an original and robust style, Invisible Promise threatens to become an instant cult classic.

REVIEW:

Richard Vahnil lives the good life with the perfect wife and near-perfect son. Emphasis on the top-of-the-line brand names for everything that touches their lives. He has everything a man could want, yet there seems to be something missing. This reader gets the impression what is missing is Richard Vahnil.

The author gives an interesting picture of people whose focal point is having only the most expensive things in their homes, just so they can point them out as being there. Do they actually add to the enjoyment of living? This tale is enough to make you wonder. There seems to be a desperation lurking just beneath the veneer of the business and home life of Richard and Pam. They talk and share the same bed, but one has the impression they exist in two separate worlds, without real communication.

Invisible Promise consists of several subplots author Benjamin Prager successfully carries through to the end where things prove out nothing is what it seems.
